Who is Howey?
I am a dad, fashion model, content creator and a bit of an introvert with a big personality which I bring to my creativity.
How did you start on your creative journey?
From as young as I can remember where I would rearrange the entire furniture in the house and either get praised for it but most times get in trouble. I would also decorate cakes my mum used to make as a child, so growing up I started making and decorating wedding and birthday cakes as well as dabble with interior designing. All of this creativity translated into the way I dressed. With social media, I was able to share my passion and creativity to an audience who were able to relate with what I do or got inspired my inspirational captions.
What makes you want to get up on a morning?
When I have a fun day of creative stuff planned like a shoot or speaking to an audience to motivate and inspire them.
Favourite image taken of you and favourite brand you’ve worked with?
Shot by my wonderful friend Mark (@markxphotos). And edited by me. A lot of photos capture my state of mind which is always optimistic. I captioned this “sometimes you just have to create your own world, when you don’t fit in everyone else’s” .
Favourite brand I have worked with is Deichmann – the campaign gave me the chance to see Demi Lovato perform and I was right on stage with her. Incredible experience. I made good friends with other bloggers I met through that campaign also.
Ideal brand to work with down the line?
Balmain. I love what the creative director Olivier Rousteing stands for and his background story. The overall aesthetic of the brand is amazing. So working with them be it in front or behind the scenes would be a dream.
Where will we see you in 5 years?
Just like Picasso’s art is instantly recognised, I want my work to be instantly recognisable even without me being in the picture. I also now do a lot of key note and motivational speaking on creativity and entrepreneurship. I want my power of influence to be brought to the real world and not just the digi-sphere or virtual world.
Any pet peeves?
People who let people down last minute, that’s the reason I have had to learn so many things on my own so that I am self sufficient and an all rounder to an extent.
Advice to aspiring bloggers and creators out there?
Find at least 3 people in your niche you aspire to be like. Think of how you can collectively translate all their aesthetics into one and make it authentically unique and true to you. Aim high and be persistent in your journey.
